Ironically enough didn't Vancouver express the most interest in Jaybo at the deadline?

Not that Vancouver is a great team, but they certainly have better players than the Panthers.
With me being here in Florida during this entire fiasco, the Luongo situation was a bit silly, much like Jay Bouwmeester.
Yes, he's a good goalie I would agree with you there.

I don't really think he's surrounded by that great of a team. Sedins are 2nd tier top line players. They lack mobility on the blueline and Sundin failed to deliver what was expected of him, regardless of the points he put up, I watched all the Vancouver games, and he was not the Sundin I saw in Toronto, thats not a good thing either. Although apparently his MCL was hurting him.

I just don't think Luongo deserves a whole lot of bashing. The man is a great goalie.

True, he is in the playoffs due to the fact he is surrounded by a much better team. I am not debating whether he was good or not.

Regarding his performance in the playoffs however, last year he gave up 7 goals in the final game. The year before, he momentarily took his eye off the play cause a penalty was not called, and they lost that game too.

Point being, if you're going to pay him that much, he better lead your team all the way. He has had two chances so far.

My gripe about Luongo is that he is heralded as an all world goalie and has yet to win anything. The Panthers could not make the playoffs with him, and can't make the playoffs without him either.
Vancouver makes the playoffs most years, and has made them in both of Luongo's, but still cannot get to the finals.

Florida's problem is not having the right mix of players with the proper skillset, maturity, and work ethic needed. In addition, because of the circus atmosphere, it is very difficult to attract a quality player.

Aside from his last game against Chicago i'd say Luongo was pretty good in the play-offs, besides now that he's on Vancouver atleast he is seeing the play-offs :)

Judd: Originally from Chicago I was there during the Keenan years, and yes, he made some controversial moves, as always, but he certainly changed the culture of the team.
Trading Savard while not popular made the Hawks a better team, and allowed the emergence of Jeremy Roenick.

Panther fans (most not all) have a sincere dislike for Keenan. Ultimately, Jacques Martin should have left, and Mike should have stayed on as Coach and GM. I would like to see how the team's performance would have turned out had that happened. Instead Mike left knowing that this organization was going nowhere.

You are right on the money here. Jacques proved to be a terrible coach and general manager. Perhaps he'll get better, but he was clearly behind the times of the "new NHL" when he was hired on.

For all of the crap Keenan takes, he's almost always left a franchise in better shape than when he came. St. Louis still hates him for bringing in Pronger, Demitra and...Gretzky. Vancouver still hates him for bringing in Bertuzzi and turning Markus Naslund into a legit NHLer. Many in Florida (though I'm thrilled to see not all) still hate him for turning Jokinen into an NHL star, bringing Bouwmeester along to being a highly-regarded top-2 defenseman in the NHL, and bringing a sense of urgency that the franchise had never had. Even in their cup run, that was out of nowhere and as much a bonus as the Wild's run to the WC Finals, the like we have never seen or even prepared for since in Minnesota.

Keenan's decisiveness on talent in the NHL, at least as far as his methodology for winning goes, is unequaled. He identifies players who just aren't going to cut it, and the detractors would be very hard-pressed to find an instance where he was wrong.

Sure, it wasn't popular, but no one in Chicago is going to complain about a declining Denis Savard being shipped out for Chris Pronger, are they?

Good stuff, sir.

Greek Pride! Oopa! But it is indeed frustrating to watch the panthers stumble around in the dark. I'm on the west coast and barely hear anything about them.
